HEADER FEATURES

• 2.0" O.D. Tubes

• 3.5" Collectors

• 3/8" thick Flanges, laser-cut, contoured for a leak free fit

 Under chassis design:  Above the steering center link design offers maximum header to ground clearance

• Full length header design:  Proven power gains vs. shorty header designs

• Recommended Horsepower:  500-750

• Torsion bar removal:  Not required in B & E-body applications, however, removal recommended in A-body applications

• Header Material:  Constructed of 16 gauge mild steel tubing.  Mandrel bent on sophisticated computer controlled bending machines for precise fit and uninterrupted exhaust flow. The mandrel bending process maintains a constant inside diameter of the tube for a smoother finish with no restriction of flow and no crimping of the tubes.

HEADER FITMENT

• Our headers were designed to fit with the engines located to the factory specifications.  If the engine is not located correctly in the chassis, the headers will not fit properly.  We strongly suggest you check your engine location prior to installation.  (Click here for the factory dimensions)

• Due to various manufacturing designs, aftermarket parts, engine configurations, suspension combinations, etc... TTi cannot ensure headers and exhaust systems to fit all combinations.  However, we have done our best to accommodate both factory and aftermarket component combinations.  In some cases, slight modification or repositioning may be required on your part to clear the specific situation.

  • 1.  PLATFORM:

    67-76 A-BODY, 62-74 B-BODY and 70-74 E-BODY

    • Headers were designed to fit with the engines located to the factory specifications.  If the engine is not located correctly in the chassis, the headers will not fit properly.  We strongly suggest you check your engine location prior to installation. 

    2.  ENGINE SIZE / CYLINDER HEAD COMBINATIONS:     (Engine size & Cylinder head must be stated when ordering)

     383-400 B-ENGINES:

    383-400 B-ENGINES must use the following "RAISED-PORT" cylinder heads for these headers to fit the 383-400 B-engine application combination...

    INDY-440-1

    INDY-440SR

    EDELBROCK VICTOR*, PROCOMP* or STAGE-6*

    *Edelbrock Victor, Procomp & Stage-6 heads are 3/16" taller and 5/8" wider requiring the following when using with the 383-400 B-engine combination...

    1.

    Modification to the passenger-side header.  When ordering, request modification and state cylinder heads using.  Passenger-side engine block modification fee $106.00, part #SP004.  Special-Order lead-time is approximately 5-7 weeks.

    2.

    67-76 A-body applications with Torsion bar suspension will require a Motor Plate to locate the engine.

    • Cylinder Head Studs:  Head studs may be used on the Passenger-side, however, on the Drivers-side the header tubes will not clear the cylinder head studs below the #3, #5 and #7 cylinders.  We recommend ARP bolts for clearance in these areas.

     440-RB ENGINES:

    440, 413,

    426-wedge,

    493-572 crate

    440-RB ENGINES must use an OEM or EQUIVALENT "STOCK-PORT" cylinder head...

    FACTORY 915, 906, 452, BULLDOG, EDELBROCK E-STREET, EDELBROCK PERFORMER RPM, INDY-EZ, STAGE-5, TRICK FLOW, 440-SOURCE STEALTH, EDELBROCK VICTOR*, PROCOMP* or STAGE-6*

    *67-76 A-body applications with Torsion bar suspension will require a Motor Plate to locate the engine.

    • Cylinder Head Studs:  Head studs may be used on the Passenger-side, however, on the Drivers-side the header tubes will not clear the cylinder head studs below the #3, #5 and #7 cylinders.  We recommend ARP bolts for clearance in these areas.

    3.  SPARK PLUGS:

    STRAIGHT or ANGLED

    Headers are designed with adequate plug clearance for angled plugs.

    4.  FRONT SUSPENSION:

    OEM or Equivalent, retaining torsion bars

    COILOVER / TUBULAR:  Fits Magnumforce TubularMagnumforce Modular Transformer

    • Steering Linkage:  OEM with torsion bars or Rack & Pinion without torsion bars.

    • Steering note applies to 67-76 A-bodies & 62-65 B-bodies Only:  This header will not clear a Quick/Fast Ratio Pitman & Idler arm that is longer than the OEM arms.  Example; The Fast Ratio Pitman & Idler arms by Firm Feel, Inc. are 3/4" longer then stock.  DIY clearance can be achieved by dimpling the header tube(s), however, doing this modification will void your header and coating warranty.

    • UniSteer Performance:  Headers will not clear the UniSteer rack and pinion.

    5.  ENGINE MOUNTS:

    OEM, SCHUMACHER or EQUIVALENT

    • 67-76 A-body applications with a stock front suspension, using Edelbrock Victor, Procomp or Stage 6 cylinder heads, will require using a motor plate to locate the engine.

    6.  AUTO TRANS:

    YES

    • Floor Shift:  Some applications with an auto transmission may require the adjustable swivel & the lower rod to be re-positioned to clear the header collector, see illustration sheet #3703

    • Applications with a 3-section throttle rod will require modification to the bell-crank & pivot shaft, see illustration sheet #101

    • GM4L60E/GM4L65E Transmissions:  Modification will be required to the passenger-side header to clear these transmissions.  When ordering, request modification and state transmission model.  Passenger-side engine block modification fee $106.00, part #SP004.  Special-Order lead-time: 5-7 weeks.

    7.  STANDARD TRANS:

    YES

    • Flywheel:  10.5" 130-tooth ring gear & 11" 143-tooth ring gear.

    • 440 applications with an 11" flywheel 143-tooth ring gear must use a RobbMc Performance starter #3005.

    • Clutch Linkage:  OEM

     Keisler/Tremec TKO-500/600 Transmissions:  It is imperative that the output-end of the tail shaft is in exactly the same position as the stock transmission output shaft for the headers to fit properly.

    • 67-76 A-body applications:  A modified Z-bar will be required, sold separately part #ZB307.

    8.  FLOOR SHIFT:

    YES

    • Auto Trans:  Some applications with an auto transmission may require the adjustable swivel & the lower rod to be re-positioned to clear the header collector, see illustration sheet #3703

    9.  COLUMN SHIFT:

    NO

    • DIY alternative:  Modify your shift linkage to achieve clearance. TTi does not make a linkage to satisfy this situation.

    10.  PUSH BUTTON:

    11.  MANUAL STEERING:

    • PowerMaster Performance XS torque starter no:  9523 

    • 440 applications with an 11" flywheel 143-tooth ring gear must use a RobbMc Performance starter #3005.

    15.  BELL HOUSING:

    • Lakewood Bellhousing scatter shield:  Modification is required to the passenger-side bell-housing.  A half moon shaped notch will need to be ground down approximately 1/4" deep to clear the header tube.
